Things are moving ahead, but still aren't going the way I plan. Based on the recent record, I'm too embarrassed to make any predictions or promises whatsoever.
So, this is where things stand. I had planned to leave for the Gulf Coast on 1 January. The van had been serviced and checked from stem to stern, and received a clean bill of health. The Airstream likewise had been to the factory in Jackson Center, and also gone over completely by the same mechanic who always services our coach. My side of the coach was all packed, ready to go. Insurance premiums all had been paid, the generator had its oil changed.
But Bobbi had a few extra things to do -- since recovering from her knee replacement she had become heavily involved in church activities. I knew what was coming when she was not packing. Ever since the first of the year she has been on a frantic round of activity at the church and the prison -- where the hospital was being moved to a completely new building. Even her exercises (and mine) were not getting done. Worst of all, she really wasn't accomplishing anything, rather just generating anxiety and conflict with fellow workers and parishioners.
But she has promised to turn over a new leaf and take a real vacation from the whole mess. So she is promising to take the dogs on one last run-through at the vet, a supply trip to Sam's Club, and to start packing her clothes and supplies in the Airstream's lockers. She has set this weekend as a goal for her departure. Prayers are in order.
