Goodness how time passes!
Status remains quo, yet we have been quite busy. Yesterday the shower head broke, so right now Bobbi is chasing a replacement.
As one might expect, Lew's back pain continues, no better, perhaps even a little bit worse. But still no surgery. On the other hand, Bobbis back has improved slowly - certainly due to the PT she has recieived. And while Lew's PT decreased the pain only temporarily, nevertheless it has continued to postpone surgery. So that is a benefit.
And the computers continue their conspiracy against Lew. Early in the week an important file in the operating system was corrupted. So there was nothing to do but remove the OS, then reinstall it with all the applications he had installed. So another couple of working days and nights down the drain - thus, this entry is even later than usual. Since then, it has been catch up, of course. Lew still tries to work on his reminiscences of uncle Julius, but it still follows this blog on the "todo" list.
The one family task Lew did get accomplished was to contact clergy in New Braunfels and offer g'momma's house as housing for a homeless family. Since Julius and Elizabeth moved out, two other relatives have occupied the house, but only briefly. For the last year or so, all of Lew's attempts to find a relative who would live in the house have been fruitless. Fortunately cousin Michael has been kind enough to keep an eye on the property, but of course Lew cannot continue to impose on him indefinately.
Lew knows that not only does such prolonged vacancy invite vandalism, vermin, and accidents (like frozen pipes), but it certainly violates one's Christian duties. So this is the best use of the house that Lew has been able to come up with. If anyone else can come up with a viable alternative, we are all ears.
