Friday (the 1st) and Saturday (the 2nd) were unremarkable, routine days -- warm and muggy, especially in mid-afternoon. So no one felt like doing much of anything. Scott and Lew did walk together in the afternoons.
Sunday (the 3rd) was different. When we woke, there was a dense and heavy fog outside, and it did not clear completely until after 10 AM. Scott's family left for church about 8:30, while Lew did not have to leave before 9:45. Scott put on another impressive performance -- no wonder that he is popular among the congregation.
The afternoon again was hot and humid, discouraging physical activity. Of course, the local residents expressed satisfaction that the weather was beginning to warm up, but we found it at least ten degrees above our comfort zone.
Then in the evening everyone else gathered around Scott's projection TV in order to watch the Super Bowl. Lew dogsat, as usual. He used the time for family phone calls -- to Linda (who did not answer), to Luther, and to Lew's aunt Aggie. Aggie informed him that her 92 year old brother, Lew's uncle Theo, had died about 5 PM the preceding day. Lew in turn passed the sad news on to Luther.
